Volunteer Opportunities!
We have many ways for volunteers to be involved with Luther Park, year round! Our site could always use volunteer's assistance keeping it cleaned, organized and refreshed. Please contact our Executive Director, Joel, if you would like to attend a planned volunteered work day or if you would like to organize your own (jlegred@lutherpark.com or 612-987-6628).
On-Site Work Opportunities
Winter/Spring Work Days
Work Days Coming Up Saturday, October 15, 2022 Volunteers gather around 9am & delegate tasks for the day. Lunch is provided for volunteers at 12:30pm. Possible Tasks: TBD. Completed Projects of 2020
- Lodge Basement
- removed dividing wall removed between "couch" side and "recreation" side
- new paint on walls
- carpet removed and floors refinished and painted
- Log House
- Apartment Side (known as the Med Shed) got a new completed wall to separate the sleeping spaces
- Retreat Center
- Installed sink in coffee nook
- Outpost
- Cleaning up the campground sites
- Building woodshed for Treehouse Pavilion
- Other Site Improvements
- Cleaning up brush, fallen tress, power washing outside of buildings, sidewalks, etc.
- Challenge Course received some TLC by clearing brush and fixing up broken initiatives
- Tin Shed, Brown Shed and Pole Barn that stores our storage items and maintenance supplies was cleaned out and reorganized.
Summer Program Options
(For Summer 2021, these opportunities will not be available. If you are interested check back in for the summer of 2022)!
- Camp Nurse: Volunteer nurses can serve for a week, a month or the entire season. Main responsibilities include dispensing medications, providing a variety of first-aid and maintaining first-aid supplies. It is required that the volunteer has a minimum certification of Adult & Pediatric CPR and First-Aid Training.
- Camp Grandparent: An opportunity for older adults to spend a week as a "grandparent" to campers. Main responsibilities include to spend time with a homesick campers, share your hobby with campers and/or greet & host parents and other guests.
- Resource Person: Do you have a talent or skill you’d like to share at camp? Luther Park can use you in a variety of areas. Some areas inlcude; kitchen/canteen helper, arts and crafts teacher/helper, staff training facilitator, worship/devotions leader and/or share a special skill/talent.
