Horse Camper Information​

Week 1, June 22-27, 2025
At Horse Camp, you’ll have the opportunity to both learn how to take care of and ride horses! And you’ll be able to participate in the fun camp activities, too.
A Peek at the Schedule
Monday-Thursday
7:30am Breakfast & Pack Lunches for the day
8:00am Leave for the stables
        Feel free to bring something to do in the car, but no cell phones!
9:00am Time at the Stables
        You will spend the whole day at Frontier Stables

**You will be rotating time on the horses and other camp activities with Luther Point (a camp in Granstburg, WI). Some of the camp activities include  things like Bible Discovery, and fun camp circle games. You will also have time to eat your lunch and take a break.
4:00pm Leave the Stables
5:00pm Arrive back at camp and shower
5:30pm Dinner
6:15pm Horse Camp Choice Time
        Choose between participating in camp evening activities like Vespers and all camp game or spend some time in the lake or Arts & Crafts.
8:00pm Campfire Worship
        End the day together in song and story!
9:30pm Lights out!
Thursday Night
5:30pm Banquet
        Dress up and have a nice, last dinner with camp!
6:45pm Variety Show
         Share a talent, perform a skit, play some music, or cheer on your fellow campers!

Friday Morning
8:00am Wake up, Pack up, Clean up
9:30am Last Canteen & Evaluations

Variety Show
If you are staying a full week, you will have the
opportunity to participate in the Variety Show on Thursday evening. This is your invitation to share a talent, sing a song, play an instrument, do a dance, perform in a skit or whatever else you, your friends or cabin group come up with. You don’t have to make any decisions about what you do or don’t want to do until Thursday of camp, but you can start thinking now!
Canteen
Each day you will have the opportunity to visit the canteen where you can buy an ice cream treat, piece of candy, drink and/or camp gear. To see what camp gear we are selling, click here.
Packing List
  • Frontier Stables Waiver
  • Sleeping Bag and/or twin sheets & blanket
  • Pillow
  • Rain Gear (a must!!)
  • Warm sweatshirt or Long-sleeve shirt
  • Backpack (a must for horse camp!!)
  • Many short sleeve shirts
  • Many shorts
  • Long pants for campfires
  • Jeans (a must for horse camp!!)
  • Underwear and socks for 6 days
  • Swimsuit & towel for swimming
  • Dress-up outfit for Banquet (full week only)
  • Shoes for waterfront or can get wet
  • Dry, closed toed shoes for running (a must!!)
  • Closed toed shoes for riding—boots are great but not required (a must for horse camp!!)
  • Towel for showering
  • Wash cloth
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, etc.)
  • Flashlight
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Bible
  • BIG waterbottle (a must!!)
  • Hat to block the sun
  • Necessary Medication (in original containers & per health form)
  • Optional: a book, notebook, coloring utensils, activity book or small fidget toys to use during Flop on Bunk (quiet time) each day.
  • Optional: what you need to perform in a variety show– i.e.: specific clothing, instrument, etc.
Medications
Please bring all medications taken routinely with your camper(s) to camp. Please pack enough to last the entire time at camp. Keep it in the original packaging/bottle that identifies the prescribing physician (if a prescription, the name of the
medication, the dosage, and the frequency of
administration. For everyone’s safety ALL medications brought to camp including prescription, over-the-counter, medicated creams and ointments will be kept in the Med Shed. Depending on the allergy, an EPI pen and Inhaler may be with the child and/or their counselor at all times.
Leave at Home
We ask that you leave the following items at home. If they are found, they will be taken away until your ride comes to pick you up.
  • Cell Phones (Reception is not great at camp and they can cause a distraction which could ruin your camp experience. If you need to connect with your parents/guardian, you can chat with a staff member who will be able to help you.)
  • Electronics (ipads, tablets, gaming devices, etc.)
  • Candy, Gum and Snacks (We will make sure you are well fed! Also, we don’t want unwanted critters coming into your sleeping spaces; we are in the woods!)
  • Personal sports equipment (We would all be sad if your personal equipment got broken or lost, so it’s best to leave them at home.)
  • Valuable items (Anything that would make you sad to lose/misplace!)
  • Fireworks, firearms, tobacco, alcohol, and mood altering drugs.
